Banana and It's Potassium Benefits

Whenever i had the chance to go to the market and pick the food we will prepare for the following meal, i have to make sure i can get a banana to be served on the table. It may be too easy for us to take that for granted, right?  But really, this fruit is so much powerful because our body needs potassium which it's ultimate source is in banana.

Potassium is a vital mineral for the function of all cells, tissues and organs in the human body--i.e., life as we know it. "We also know that potassium is important for controlling blood pressure, and there's a lot of evidence that it reduces your risk of stroke," says Walter C. Willett, MD, chair of the nutrition department at the Harvard School for Public Health. And, as many athletes are aware, it can help prevent muscle cramps and post-workout soreness.

Spinach Boosts Metabolism

Have you heard of spinach being the healthiest veges?

I did and here's what i've got..

The iron present in spinach is thought to help keep your red blood cells healthy. Therefore spinach helps your red blood cells get the necessary oxygen to your muscles and in turn this helps to ensure your metabolism does not drop or decrease.

Alternative: eat other foods rich in iron like kale, liver and chickpeas.

Spinach (Spinacia oleracea) is an edible flowering plant in the family of Amaranthaceae. It is native to central and southwestern Asia. It is an annual plant (rarely biennial), which grows to a height of up to 30 cm. Spinach may survive over winter in temperate regions. The leaves are alternate, simple, ovate to triangular-based, very variable in size from about 2–30 cm long and 1–15 cm broad, with larger leaves at the base of the plant and small leaves higher on the flowering stem. The flowers are inconspicuous, yellow-green, 3–4 mm diameter, maturing into a small, hard, dry, lumpyfruit cluster 5–10 mm across containing several seeds.

Heart Attacks and Heart Water

PS:

I just stumbled this informative post and i decided to just share it here..

A very good article which takes two minutes to read. Heart Attacks And Drinking Warm Water

This is a very good article. Not only about the warm water after your meal, but about Heart Attacks. The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals, not cold water, maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating.

For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

Common Symptoms Of Heart Attack...
A serious note about heart attacks - You! should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting . Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line.
You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack. Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms. 60% of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know, the better chance we could survive..

A cardiologist says if everyone who reads this post shares it to 10 people, you can be sure that we'll save at least one life. Read this & Send to a friend. It could save a life... So, please be a true friend and share this article to all your friends you care about..

Colds and Flu Matters

I mentioned a few times about me having an allergy and truly there are times that it's annoying specially when i am in the middle of a nice sleep and all of a sudden i have to sneeze repetitively and deal with runny nose. These common traits are my buddies when i still ma not taking my daily dose of vitamins and gladly when i started taking this immune system boosters then it just changed everything.

Just there are times that I'm thinking where this flu virus came from and so i had my share of research so this is what i've got:

------------------------------------

What is flu?

Influenza, commonly shortened to "flu," is an extremely contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza A or B viruses. Flu appears most frequently in winter and early spring. The flu virus attacks the body by spreading through the upper and/or lower respiratory tract.

What's the difference between a cold and flu?

The common cold and flu are both contagious viral infections of the respiratory tract. Although the symptoms can be similar, flu is much worse. A cold may drag you down a bit, but the flu can make you shudder at the very thought of getting out of bed.
Congestion, sore throat, and sneezing are common with colds. Both cold and flu bring coughing, headache, and chest discomfort. With the flu, though, you are likely to run a high fever for several days and have headache, myalgia, fatigue, and weakness. Usually, complications from colds are relatively minor, but a severe case of flu can lead to a life-threatening illness such as pneumonia.
More than 100 types of cold viruses are known, and new strains of flu evolve every few years. Since both diseases are viral, antibiotics cannot conquer cold or flu. Remember: Antibiotics only treat bacterial infections.

What Chocolate Can Do To Your Brain

photo: Grant Cornett

Breaking news from the totally sweet department: A new study shows that drinking two cups of hot chocolate a day may help people keep their brains healthy and their thinking skills sharp. But before you go guzzling down the cocoa Kool-Aid, take note: The research was done on older adults (average age 73), and the authors say there's no hard evidence that it will do the same for a younger population.

Published today in the journal Neurology, the study involved 60 participants, 18 of whom had impaired blood flow to working areas of the brain -- a condition that experts believe may play a role in disease such as Alzheimer's.

All participants were given two cups of hot cocoa a day -- and no other chocolate -- for 30 days; they were also given tests to measure their memory and thinking skills at the beginning and end of the study.

A Coffee and a Bread: Is it Healthy?

Admittedly, i am not the type of person who eats heavy breakfast. Even when i was still working, a cup of coffee solves my day. My mom always tells me that it;s not good to fill my tummy with just a bread and a coffee but then i just can't eat rice early in the morning.

A cup of coffee and  a bread is fine really but im thinkin if im getting the right food intake for an energy giving phase.

A Healthier Me

I can't remember anymore when was my last post here but if im not mistaken, it was a month ago. Anyway, i am simply busy at my other site but i knew i have to continue updating this site too. Sigh, i don't know anymore how many sites i have at present but i think its more than the count of my finger and counting.

Anyway, today was a busy day for me. I was at the city to run some errands and one thing that i was thinkin of was to get my vitamins which i did. I have to maintain taking my ascorbic acid because it helps me boosts my immune system and a day without it is a risk on my health.

I think i should give the credit to my vitamins for  a healthier me.

Rainy Days and Me

Since the start of this month, i can already observed rainy days seems to be unstoppable. Sometimes the sun shines brightly but late afternoon, you see a gloomy weather and there the raindrops will soon dominate the place. Well, if there's one thing i love about this kind of weather is the cold ambiance. I love to cuddle with my pillow and bond with my bed. Yay, seems like the rain is not a friend with my present health buddy. As you all know, i do have an allergic rhinitis so with the rainy and unpredictable weather that is happening right now, i am prone to sneezing and blowing my nose.At that, i always have my allergy med ready and of course i have to take a daily dose of vitamins.

As they say prevention is better than cure.

Good Morning

Good morning folks..

I am in my best mood as i got plenty of sleep. As you all knew i was deprived of sleep for few days due to some activities we are currently spearheading but thank God things are over now, so i take advantage of getting the right sleep ;last night and had a good rest.

I could say nothing beats the idea of getting the right rest. A human being needs the right sleep and proper nutrition for him/her to do all his tasks in a day. A call center agent for example works on a night shift and that he is deprived to rest at night like a typical human do so the outcome, he has hard time resting in a day course. Yes, because our body adopt to the usual body routine and changing it may lead you to any illness in the future.

All im saying folks, we're no robots so take time to rest, sleep and have fun.

The Benefits of a Smile

"Smiling slows the heart and relaxes the body. This lets the heart work without overworking. People who smile and laugh often are less likely to develop heart disease. Smiling reduces blood pressure temporarily too." - Charlie Pulsipher

Runny Nose Is Irritating

Have you experienced blowing your nose for countless times yet it's still up and the watery thing inside never stops from coming out. So irritating, isnt it? I don't know what triggers this thing but i knew that when my allergy hits me then this runny nose will comes next. Most of the time i am immediately hit by allergy id any of the following allergens affects me:

1. String Fume

Whether it's a nice or bad odor for as long as  gives  strong scent that my allergy will soon attack. Maybe the fact that my nostril is sensitive that makes me a little irritated to any strong odor. Having a handkerchief on hand is always a nice option.

2, Drinking Cold Water

I was advised once by my doctor to prevent from eating chocolates or any beverages that are too cold. I am just sensitive to this thing and once i take such type, i do experience excessive coughing that are mostly of watery substance.

3. Nose Irritants

Thereare also few nose irritants that are contributory to allergy like fabric clothes, dust, cigarette smoke and more.

Do You Allow your Kids to Bath in Rainwater?

I remember one time, someone told me that they are waiting for the rain to come for them to get enough water to drink. I was shocked honestly as i knew that rainwater is not potable drink. I mean its not safe to be the source of drinking water. I think you may use it to water the plants of any other kitchen washing but not on drinking. In fact, when we were still kid seldom our parents would allow us to play during rain.

I honestly want to look forward in playing and taking a bath whenever i heard raindrops on our roof but then my kinfolks believe that its not safe and we might get sick, i wonder if it's true?

How about you, do you allow your kids to bath in rainwater?
