Banana and It's Potassium Benefits

Whenever i had the chance to go to the market and pick the food we will prepare for the following meal, i have to make sure i can get a banana to be served on the table. It may be too easy for us to take that for granted, right?  But really, this fruit is so much powerful because our body needs potassium which it's ultimate source is in banana.

Potassium is a vital mineral for the function of all cells, tissues and organs in the human body--i.e., life as we know it. "We also know that potassium is important for controlling blood pressure, and there's a lot of evidence that it reduces your risk of stroke," says Walter C. Willett, MD, chair of the nutrition department at the Harvard School for Public Health. And, as many athletes are aware, it can help prevent muscle cramps and post-workout soreness.

Do You Allow your Kids to Bath in Rainwater?

I remember one time, someone told me that they are waiting for the rain to come for them to get enough water to drink. I was shocked honestly as i knew that rainwater is not potable drink. I mean its not safe to be the source of drinking water. I think you may use it to water the plants of any other kitchen washing but not on drinking. In fact, when we were still kid seldom our parents would allow us to play during rain.

I honestly want to look forward in playing and taking a bath whenever i heard raindrops on our roof but then my kinfolks believe that its not safe and we might get sick, i wonder if it's true?

How about you, do you allow your kids to bath in rainwater?

Know Your Doctor's Specialization

Honestly, i don't have a single idea about doctor's specialization. Probably because i am more focus in a medical doctor on its general view. I mean when i say "doctor" - its a profession intended to treat the sick people and regardless if they;re for animals or man, i just knew they belong to the same white label.

Thus, while im having sense on the medical aspect, it made me research for the basic medical specialization and here's what i've got:

---------------------

Pediatrician - children
Gerentologist - elderly

Anesthesiologist - Anesthesia
Surgeon - Surgery
Cardiologist - heart
Nephrologist - Kidney
Hepatologist - Liver
Pulmonologist - Lungs
Endocrinologist - Glands
Dermatologist - Skin
Opthamologist - Eyes
Otolaryngologist - Ears, Nose and Throat

Gynecologist - female parts
Gasteroenterologist - Stomach and intestines
Proctologist - Rectum and anus
Urologist - Structures for urination under kidney
Rheumatologist - Joints
Neurologist - Nervous system
------------------------------

I think they are the basic specialization that we need to know. So next time, you pay visit to your clinic, just pay attention to the label after their name. It says it all.

Cold Weather

The cold weather seems to dominate still despte the approach of Summer Season. I've been hearing about cold front being dominiting the country and is the sole reason for continous rain and thunderstorm. With this kind of weather colds and flu are prevalent in the neighborhood. In fact, my nephew is having a fever now with slight cough. I knew it's just a minor things and i can blame one reason why she has that feeling. The unpredictable weather. WEll, in case some of you don't realize still, i came to know that when a child has a fever it does mean that you have to be extra observant on the little tote. Fever is a sign of infection and when it lasts for few days that it's about time you consider seeking help of a professional medical doctor.

Here are few symptoms you need to bring your kid to the Hospital:

1 Fever - If the fever lasts for few days that it's about time you bring her to the nearest hospital.

2. Skin Rashes - If the kid is a bit not feeling well and skin rashes came out after few days then you better seek help by visiting the pedia.

3. Vomiting - If the kid is already vomiting, then it's already a serious matter especially if fever is still prevalent.

It's a rule of thumb not to wait for extreme situations before you decide to seek the help of a doctor. Oftentimes the illness turns worst already before we make up our mind of sending the kid to the nearest hospital.
