Banana and It's Potassium Benefits

Whenever i had the chance to go to the market and pick the food we will prepare for the following meal, i have to make sure i can get a banana to be served on the table. It may be too easy for us to take that for granted, right?  But really, this fruit is so much powerful because our body needs potassium which it's ultimate source is in banana.

Potassium is a vital mineral for the function of all cells, tissues and organs in the human body--i.e., life as we know it. "We also know that potassium is important for controlling blood pressure, and there's a lot of evidence that it reduces your risk of stroke," says Walter C. Willett, MD, chair of the nutrition department at the Harvard School for Public Health. And, as many athletes are aware, it can help prevent muscle cramps and post-workout soreness.

Spinach Boosts Metabolism

Have you heard of spinach being the healthiest veges?

I did and here's what i've got..

The iron present in spinach is thought to help keep your red blood cells healthy. Therefore spinach helps your red blood cells get the necessary oxygen to your muscles and in turn this helps to ensure your metabolism does not drop or decrease.

Alternative: eat other foods rich in iron like kale, liver and chickpeas.

Spinach (Spinacia oleracea) is an edible flowering plant in the family of Amaranthaceae. It is native to central and southwestern Asia. It is an annual plant (rarely biennial), which grows to a height of up to 30 cm. Spinach may survive over winter in temperate regions. The leaves are alternate, simple, ovate to triangular-based, very variable in size from about 2–30 cm long and 1–15 cm broad, with larger leaves at the base of the plant and small leaves higher on the flowering stem. The flowers are inconspicuous, yellow-green, 3–4 mm diameter, maturing into a small, hard, dry, lumpyfruit cluster 5–10 mm across containing several seeds.

Heart Attacks and Heart Water

PS:

I just stumbled this informative post and i decided to just share it here..

A very good article which takes two minutes to read. Heart Attacks And Drinking Warm Water

This is a very good article. Not only about the warm water after your meal, but about Heart Attacks. The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals, not cold water, maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating.

For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

Common Symptoms Of Heart Attack...
A serious note about heart attacks - You! should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting . Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line.
You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack. Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms. 60% of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know, the better chance we could survive..

A cardiologist says if everyone who reads this post shares it to 10 people, you can be sure that we'll save at least one life. Read this & Send to a friend. It could save a life... So, please be a true friend and share this article to all your friends you care about..

Colds and Flu Matters

I mentioned a few times about me having an allergy and truly there are times that it's annoying specially when i am in the middle of a nice sleep and all of a sudden i have to sneeze repetitively and deal with runny nose. These common traits are my buddies when i still ma not taking my daily dose of vitamins and gladly when i started taking this immune system boosters then it just changed everything.

Just there are times that I'm thinking where this flu virus came from and so i had my share of research so this is what i've got:

------------------------------------

What is flu?

Influenza, commonly shortened to "flu," is an extremely contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza A or B viruses. Flu appears most frequently in winter and early spring. The flu virus attacks the body by spreading through the upper and/or lower respiratory tract.

What's the difference between a cold and flu?

The common cold and flu are both contagious viral infections of the respiratory tract. Although the symptoms can be similar, flu is much worse. A cold may drag you down a bit, but the flu can make you shudder at the very thought of getting out of bed.
Congestion, sore throat, and sneezing are common with colds. Both cold and flu bring coughing, headache, and chest discomfort. With the flu, though, you are likely to run a high fever for several days and have headache, myalgia, fatigue, and weakness. Usually, complications from colds are relatively minor, but a severe case of flu can lead to a life-threatening illness such as pneumonia.
More than 100 types of cold viruses are known, and new strains of flu evolve every few years. Since both diseases are viral, antibiotics cannot conquer cold or flu. Remember: Antibiotics only treat bacterial infections.

What Chocolate Can Do To Your Brain

photo: Grant Cornett

Breaking news from the totally sweet department: A new study shows that drinking two cups of hot chocolate a day may help people keep their brains healthy and their thinking skills sharp. But before you go guzzling down the cocoa Kool-Aid, take note: The research was done on older adults (average age 73), and the authors say there's no hard evidence that it will do the same for a younger population.

Published today in the journal Neurology, the study involved 60 participants, 18 of whom had impaired blood flow to working areas of the brain -- a condition that experts believe may play a role in disease such as Alzheimer's.

All participants were given two cups of hot cocoa a day -- and no other chocolate -- for 30 days; they were also given tests to measure their memory and thinking skills at the beginning and end of the study.

A Coffee and a Bread: Is it Healthy?

Admittedly, i am not the type of person who eats heavy breakfast. Even when i was still working, a cup of coffee solves my day. My mom always tells me that it;s not good to fill my tummy with just a bread and a coffee but then i just can't eat rice early in the morning.

A cup of coffee and  a bread is fine really but im thinkin if im getting the right food intake for an energy giving phase.

A Healthier Me

I can't remember anymore when was my last post here but if im not mistaken, it was a month ago. Anyway, i am simply busy at my other site but i knew i have to continue updating this site too. Sigh, i don't know anymore how many sites i have at present but i think its more than the count of my finger and counting.

Anyway, today was a busy day for me. I was at the city to run some errands and one thing that i was thinkin of was to get my vitamins which i did. I have to maintain taking my ascorbic acid because it helps me boosts my immune system and a day without it is a risk on my health.

I think i should give the credit to my vitamins for  a healthier me.

Rainy Days and Me

Since the start of this month, i can already observed rainy days seems to be unstoppable. Sometimes the sun shines brightly but late afternoon, you see a gloomy weather and there the raindrops will soon dominate the place. Well, if there's one thing i love about this kind of weather is the cold ambiance. I love to cuddle with my pillow and bond with my bed. Yay, seems like the rain is not a friend with my present health buddy. As you all know, i do have an allergic rhinitis so with the rainy and unpredictable weather that is happening right now, i am prone to sneezing and blowing my nose.At that, i always have my allergy med ready and of course i have to take a daily dose of vitamins.

As they say prevention is better than cure.

Good Morning

Good morning folks..

I am in my best mood as i got plenty of sleep. As you all knew i was deprived of sleep for few days due to some activities we are currently spearheading but thank God things are over now, so i take advantage of getting the right sleep ;last night and had a good rest.

I could say nothing beats the idea of getting the right rest. A human being needs the right sleep and proper nutrition for him/her to do all his tasks in a day. A call center agent for example works on a night shift and that he is deprived to rest at night like a typical human do so the outcome, he has hard time resting in a day course. Yes, because our body adopt to the usual body routine and changing it may lead you to any illness in the future.

All im saying folks, we're no robots so take time to rest, sleep and have fun.

Runny Nose Is Irritating

Have you experienced blowing your nose for countless times yet it's still up and the watery thing inside never stops from coming out. So irritating, isnt it? I don't know what triggers this thing but i knew that when my allergy hits me then this runny nose will comes next. Most of the time i am immediately hit by allergy id any of the following allergens affects me:

1. String Fume

Whether it's a nice or bad odor for as long as  gives  strong scent that my allergy will soon attack. Maybe the fact that my nostril is sensitive that makes me a little irritated to any strong odor. Having a handkerchief on hand is always a nice option.

2, Drinking Cold Water

I was advised once by my doctor to prevent from eating chocolates or any beverages that are too cold. I am just sensitive to this thing and once i take such type, i do experience excessive coughing that are mostly of watery substance.

3. Nose Irritants

Thereare also few nose irritants that are contributory to allergy like fabric clothes, dust, cigarette smoke and more.

Do You Allow your Kids to Bath in Rainwater?

I remember one time, someone told me that they are waiting for the rain to come for them to get enough water to drink. I was shocked honestly as i knew that rainwater is not potable drink. I mean its not safe to be the source of drinking water. I think you may use it to water the plants of any other kitchen washing but not on drinking. In fact, when we were still kid seldom our parents would allow us to play during rain.

I honestly want to look forward in playing and taking a bath whenever i heard raindrops on our roof but then my kinfolks believe that its not safe and we might get sick, i wonder if it's true?

How about you, do you allow your kids to bath in rainwater?

Secret to Longer Life

Scientists said they had found a brain region that controls physical ageing, opening the possibility of one day being able to manipulate it to effect how people grow old.

The research, published in the journal Nature, implicates the hypothalamus -- a brain region that regulates growth, reproduction and metabolism, in the gradual and coordinated bodily deterioration we call ageing.

Though the brain has long been suspected of orchestrating the process, this is the first evidence to that effect.

The team said they could speed up or slow down ageing in mice by activating or inhibiting the brain signalling molecule NF-kB in the hypothalamus, which in turn affects levels of a hormone called GnRH that plays a role in the generation of neurons -- the data processing cells of the brain.

By stimulating NF-kB, they caused a decline in GnRH which led to impaired neurogenesis and ageing symptoms like muscle weakening, skin atrophy, bone loss and memory impairment.
NF-kB is generally responsible for regulating the body's response to inflammation, the New York-based team wrote.

The researchers could also slow ageing in mice by giving them the GnRH hormone.More Here

Drink Plenty of Water to Loss Weight

Photo: I prepared this one now my self...DETOX WATER..Naturally Help Remove Toxins. My gym-mate introduce this to me.. as some Korean restaurant serve this detox water after meal..

Drinking LOTS of water is key to weight loss, staying hydrated, and removing impurities from your body. If you’re not a big water drinker then plain water can get boring, but if you add the right things they give it some flavor and help to detox your body. Both lemon and cucumber juice offer an array of nutritional and health benefits. These foods contain many of the essential vitamins and minerals the body needs to function. They are also versatile in how they can be used to help treat a number of ailments.

Lemon: Lemon water makes for a powerful detox drink; lemon juice helps to cleanse and alkalize the body. Add one thinly sliced lemon to a large pitcher, or squeeze fresh lemon juice into your glass.

Cucumber: Adding a few slices of cucumber to your water makes for excellent rehydration, and cucumber contains anti-inflammatory properties.

I like to make a big pitcher of this and drink it throughout the day. It’s so refreshing and the perfect twist for plain water.

You can refill the pitcher and reuse the lemon and cucumber a few times, they will stay fresh for about 2 days if kept cold.

So, how do you stay fit? Im sure you  have a daily dose of exercise. Ohh, i love to do so but laziness is always dominating me every morning. Then, i have a good share to people who want to stay in shape.

Know Your Doctor's Specialization

Honestly, i don't have a single idea about doctor's specialization. Probably because i am more focus in a medical doctor on its general view. I mean when i say "doctor" - its a profession intended to treat the sick people and regardless if they;re for animals or man, i just knew they belong to the same white label.

Thus, while im having sense on the medical aspect, it made me research for the basic medical specialization and here's what i've got:

---------------------

Pediatrician - children
Gerentologist - elderly

Anesthesiologist - Anesthesia
Surgeon - Surgery
Cardiologist - heart
Nephrologist - Kidney
Hepatologist - Liver
Pulmonologist - Lungs
Endocrinologist - Glands
Dermatologist - Skin
Opthamologist - Eyes
Otolaryngologist - Ears, Nose and Throat

Gynecologist - female parts
Gasteroenterologist - Stomach and intestines
Proctologist - Rectum and anus
Urologist - Structures for urination under kidney
Rheumatologist - Joints
Neurologist - Nervous system
------------------------------

I think they are the basic specialization that we need to know. So next time, you pay visit to your clinic, just pay attention to the label after their name. It says it all.

Do We Need a Daily Dose of Ascorbic Acid?

I admit i am a little vain in terms of my body's resistance to little things like dust, heat and change of weather condition. The latter is not a buddy since most fo the time i will encounted allergic rhinitis which if i will not deal attentively may result in serious asthma attack, So whenver i feel i need a little rest and medication for allergy, i should do it the soonest to prevent further consequence. I have several health measures done to make sure i won't be hit by bad allergy but most of the time i can't tell which of those works for me and which does not. At the end of the day, it's about taking good care of our body and giving it it's sole rest is the best and ultimate way to stay healthy.

Anyway, as part of my quest to properly give my body it's needed care, i decided to change my vitans and switch to pure ascorbic acid. How many times have you heard about multivitamins, vitamins for the blood, skin and other stuff? BUt wait, one thing remains constant and that's the fact that ascorbic acid is what our body needs to boosts our immune system. A daily dose of this will hopefully make my immune system a little stronger thus ill eradicate some asthma days:)

Get Rid of Prickly Heat

Summertime is coming in less than a month, i suppose most of the students are preparing for their graduation rites while some are happy mom who celebrate their child's school impressive performance. After which, kids will surely paint an awesome smile everyday. Why not? They will have time to play all day, have time to bond with their families and watch their favorite channel all day long.

The nephew is so much excited for the summer. She will always asked me how many days more before the end of their class and i am for her since when i was still a kid, i used to look forward for this long vacation. Nonetheless, summertime also brings few skin rashes because of too much exposure to the sun. Our kids seems to enjoy having long exposure but what they don't know is they are also prone to skin rashes like the popular prickly heat. The latter is a common skin rash among children especially during summer. It's no surprise when kids complain for a an itchy feeling every now and then especially at their back. If you may have notice, some kids do have towels at their back not only to prevent penetration of the sweat but also to protect them from huge exposure of sun leading to this prickly heat.

By the way, i found this a nice remedy for prickly heat in case you encounter such hassle this summer.

This powder is available to all leading pharmacy and drug stores nationwide.

Girl Thing: Menstrual Flow

I am actually in pain right now, i can't believe this menstrual flow just ruins the day's mood. Maybe it's just a hormonal thing but i can't help but wondered how this happened and what works in there. For girls, the monthly period is like a monthly agony. Some women dealt with painful cramps while some can't even work during their flows. But really, it amazed me how the blood goes out ad stop instantly. There is no system or machine out there yet it just works perfectly.

Per online resource, here is complete guide to this girl thing:

The menstrual cycle is the scientific term for the physiological changes that occur in fertile women and other female primates for the purposes of sexual reproduction. This article focuses on the human menstrual cycle, a "monthly" cycle that can vary around an average of ~28 days per cycle. The menstrual cycle, under the control of the endocrine system, is necessary for reproduction. It is commonly divided into three phases: the follicular phase, ovulation, and the luteal phase. It is also occasionally misclassified using the uterine cycle: menstruation, proliferative phase, and secretory phase.[1] Menstrual cycles are counted from the first day of menstrual bleeding. Hormonal contraception interferes with the normal hormonal changes with the aim of preventing reproduction

Why Do We Sneeze?

Just when i woke up, i was annoyed when i sneeze multiple times.sigh*** I wish the allergy will leave me alone so that i can do whatever i want and i need to do. So, when i was looking for a post idea on this site, i remember to browse why we need to sneeze.

So, here's what i found out..

Sneezing is a way that your body gets rid of bad things that are in your nose. These things might be bacteria, germs, and other things. You also sneeze when you smell pepper because your body does not like pepper!

When you suddenly you see a bright light like the sun or a light bulb then you feel like you are going to sneeze. Most people feel like you do when you see the light. Actually 1 out of 3 people sneeze when they see the bright light. Those people are "Photic Sneezers." Photic really is another word for light. Photic sneezing is something that you get from one of your parents because it is something that runs in one side of your family.

Cold Weather

The cold weather seems to dominate still despte the approach of Summer Season. I've been hearing about cold front being dominiting the country and is the sole reason for continous rain and thunderstorm. With this kind of weather colds and flu are prevalent in the neighborhood. In fact, my nephew is having a fever now with slight cough. I knew it's just a minor things and i can blame one reason why she has that feeling. The unpredictable weather. WEll, in case some of you don't realize still, i came to know that when a child has a fever it does mean that you have to be extra observant on the little tote. Fever is a sign of infection and when it lasts for few days that it's about time you consider seeking help of a professional medical doctor.

sick girl

Here are few symptoms you need to bring your kid to the Hospital:

1 Fever - If the fever lasts for few days that it's about time you bring her to the nearest hospital.

2. Skin Rashes - If the kid is a bit not feeling well and skin rashes came out after few days then you better seek help by visiting the pedia.

3. Vomiting - If the kid is already vomiting, then it's already a serious matter especially if fever is still prevalent.

It's a rule of thumb not to wait for extreme situations before you decide to seek the help of a doctor. Oftentimes the illness turns worst already before we make up our mind of sending the kid to the nearest hospital.

An Upset Stomach

Yesterday, i dealt with an upset stomach. It's quite normal since i noticed that the water is not that clear so i opt to buy a purified one. I just noticed that my stomach is acting up when i was at the city and my mode simply just turned into mess as i need to go home urgently. My brother was at the city so i contacted him immediately, only that he still has a client to deal with so i end up taking a cab. When my brother got home, he had this...

Leukemia: Deadly Disease

What made me talk about this disease today?

A lot of compelling reasons but over and above it boils down to inaccurate knowledge of the public about its symptoms that leads to a worst case. For instance, a young neighbor who lives just a house after died recently because of this. She works in the next city and her kin couldn't believe she has this deadly disease. There was no early symptoms now the girl was a bit weak. It just hit her quickly and the medical findings told them that the disease was on her body for quite sometime. It's really pathetic and i can't help get pity over her case. She is so young and she is working for the family and all of a sudden it wen out this way. I heard numerous talks about this disease but i don't believe it will really happen at least to anyone i knew personally. I have heard red rashes being one of it's symptoms and i didn't see any from her. Does that mean the symptoms for this disease is a case to case basis?

An online medical site gave out this symptoms:

What are the symptoms? Symptoms may depend on what type of leukemia you have, but common symptoms include:

Fever and night sweats.
Headaches.
Bruising or bleeding easily.
Bone or joint pain.
A swollen or painful belly from an enlarged spleen.
Swollen lymph nodes in the armpit, neck, or groin.
Getting a lot of infections.
Feeling very tired or weak.
Losing weight and not feeling hungry.

For Good Digestion

For people who have a hard time controlling their diet at least do something to increase your metabolism and the latter has something to do with good digestion. Every after meal, a nice amount of water intake is necessary so as to properly digest the food that we eat.I use to drink a lot of water and someone even told me that a warm water is ideal so as to helps the fats to be properly digest, i still don't know how true is that.

Anyway, i am hooked lately in drinking cereal drink before bedtime. Not only it helps me to have a good sleep but it also helps digest the food i ate. I even noticed that when i do drink of this before bedtime, i encounter a nice toilet business the following morning.
